Plakias is located in an area,where the natural scenery is constantly changing,giving to the visitor a various of possibilities in order to be satisfied, always according to his wishes.
 
The mountains with  the little chapels at the top and the gorges of Kotsifou, Kourtaliotis and Patsou are ideal for lovely walks and climbing, for those who wish to come closer to the nature and discover the beauty of this place.
 
The beaches, on the other hand, are perfect for snorkeling or scuba diving, since there are several diving centers around the area, but also for other watersports, such as pedaloes, canoeing, water skiing e.t.c. Furthermore, in August the winds favor wind-surfing and kite-surfing.
 
In Plakias you may also rent a bicycle, a bike or a car in order to visit the surrounding places, such as the monastery of Preveli, or even ride a horse or make an excursion with the little boats to the palm beach of Preveli, to Chora Sfakion, to Gavdos island e.t.c.
 
Finally, here you will find a taxi service, regular routes by bus to the next villages or to Rethimno, ΑΤΜ, laundry, post office, doctors, pharmacies, medical center in Spili and a hospital in Rethimno, police office in Rethimno e.t.c.
